Selket Studio ceramics are created by Lisa Karmen using porcelain and high-fire stoneware clay. Each piece is one-of-a-kind with the subtle differences unique to handcrafted objects. Everything is dishwasher safe, oven proof, and microwaveable.

I love everything about working in clay! There are times when I am focused on creating specific pieces and reproducing them in series and other times when I play with the clay and see what develops. Shape, texture, color and light in the natural world inspire me and I strive to express the movement of these elements in my work. Tactile experience is also important to me and creating pottery that has a comfortable feel to the hand influences the creation of my pieces.
My studio is named for Selket, the Ancient Egyptian Goddess of transformation, magic and healing, to honor the mystery of creating decorative and functional vessels from lumps of clay. I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College where I studied ceramics with Mikhail Zakin.
